چکیده
As a new type of biological treatment process, membrane aerated biofilm reactors (MABRs), which have received extensive attention and research in recent years, could reduce energy consumption by 70% compared to the traditional activated sludge process. The MABR system uses bubble-free aeration material as carrier, counter-diffusion mechanism oxygen pollutants enables ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AOB) nitrate (NOB) adhere surface so that simultaneous nitrification denitrification (SND) can occur achieve nitrogen carbon removal. Currently, technology has been successfully applied municipal sewage, various industrial wastewater, pharmaceutical, high salinity, ammonia, aquaculture landfill leachate black odorous water bodies rivers. Many laboratory experiments pilot-scale used study performance materials, pollutant removal effects different factors on system. However, is affected such dissolved (DO), pH, C/N, thickness, hydraulic retention time (HRT), temperature, etc., limits large-scale promotion. Therefore, modules, biofilm, application technology, influencing performance, limitations perspectives are reviewed this paper, we expect provide valuable information.

Mass transfer in a membrane aerated biofilm.
We present experimental results of mass transfer of a non reactive tracer gas (neon) measured in aerobic heterotrophic biofilm developed from activated sludge. Biofilms are grown in various hydrodynamic conditions and the effective diffusivity is used to quantify the mass transfer through the biofilm. Beyond some cross-flow conditions, the effective diffusivity through the biofilm seems larger ...
متن کاملa new membrane - aerated biofilm reactor for low energy wastewater treatment : pilot results
A new hybrid membrane-aerated biofilm reactor (MABR) technology that enables energy-neutral treatment of municipal wastewater is introduced. The process, which removes nitrogen using conventional nitrificationdenitrification, was demonstrated at pilot-scale, treating primary effluent. The new MABR membrane product can operate in a high mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) environment, making it...

A two-dimensional, particle-based biofilm model coupled with mass transport and computational fluid dynamics was developed to simulate autotrophic denitrification in a spiral-wound membrane biofilm reactor (MBfR), where hydrogen is supplied via hollow-fiber membrane fabric. The spiral-wound configuration consists of alternating layers of plastic spacer net and membrane fabric that create rows o...
متن کاملUtilizing algal oxygen production for advanced wastewater treatment in a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) – the Biologically Aerated Reactor (BAR
A novel wastewater treatment system has been developed, utilizing an oxygen-rich algal liquid to supply oxygen to an aerobic biofilm reactor. Aerobic treatment of wastewater takes place in a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor, where the aerobic biomass which breaks down organic and nitrogenous pollutants grows as a biofilm on floating carriers. Algae grown in an open raceway pond produce oxygen through...
متن کاملExperimental and simulation analysis of community structure of nitrifying bacteria in a membrane-aerated biofilm.
Until now, only few attempts have been made to assess biofilm models simulating microenvironments in a biofilm. As a first step, we compare the microenvironment observed in a membrane aerated biofilm (MAB) to that derived from a two-dimensional computational model with individual ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB) embedded in a continuum EPS matrix. Gradients ...
